Nourishing benefits of raw milk

Some controversial content I'm sharing about today is to do with the benefits of raw milk. It's so yummy, we have it every day in our household and it's milk how it's supposed to be.

Here at Holistically You, we aren't fans of alternative milks as they are generally packed with seed oils, synthetic vitamins & minerals, and lots of sugar. The odd occasion where a client doesn't tolerate dairy and can't access raw milk, I would recommend coconut milk with no additives etc. Don't buy into all the hype of alternative milks, it's greenwashing at it's finest and doesn't do anything to benefit your health.

Unlike raw milk, to make pasteurized milk, they heat the milk at high temps, enough to kill all bacteria, which with the high heat, results in killing off vitamins, minerals, enzymes and damaging the structure of the fats.

We need the enzymes in raw milk to help our bodies break down the lactose. This is why we see so many people with lactose intolerance that can tolerate raw milk. Pasteurized dairy is also highly inflammatory for certain individuals, especially little ones. This is where we see dairy causing eczema, gut issues, allergies and bloating.

Having milk raw, which means just straight from the cow (how people have done for centuries before the industrial revolution), helps keep all of the vitamins, minerals and enzymes in the milk + bioavailable for our bodies. It contains 22 amino acids, healthy fats + sugars - it's basically a wholefood!

It contains the enzymes needed to help breakdown the lactose, which not only helps reduce inflammation but can help to be a healing tool for our bodies.

Once I stopped breastfeeding I swapped our little ones bottle to raw milk and he loves it. Our whole household drink it daily and we make ice cream, yoghurt and I am wanting to start trying to make cheese with it this year (if you have any tips to start out please let me know)

The raw milk we source is from Wainui and it is certified organic. It is DELICIOUS.

Have you tried it before? I'd love to know your thoughts and I hope this has helped clarify what raw milk actually is and has inspired you to try some for your own nourishment!
